Frequently asked questions
Everything about selling your Mac to Encore — the offer, shipping, getting paid, and what happens to your data.
Why sell my Mac to Encore?
We take the hassle out of selling. You get a firm offer in about thirty seconds, a free prepaid shipping label, and payments are sent via Venmo, Cash App, direct deposit, or check the same day your Mac arrives — no haggling, no lowball messages, and no meeting strangers in a parking lot.*
How does it work?
It takes about thirty seconds. Enter your serial number (or pick your model), answer a few quick questions about its condition, and we'll show you a real offer. Accept it and a prepaid shipping label lands in your inbox. Pack your Mac, attach the label, and drop it off. Once it arrives and passes a quick inspection — usually the same day — we send your payment.*
How long does shipping take?
We send a prepaid USPS label, so your Mac typically reaches us in 2–5 business days at no cost to you. You're welcome to ship faster or with another carrier on your own dime — just keep it insured for the offer amount.
How do I get paid, and how fast?
Choose Venmo, Cash App, direct deposit, or a paper check when you accept. We send payment as soon as your Mac is inspected — usually the same day it arrives. Venmo, Cash App, and wires land same day; direct deposit takes 1–3 business days; a check is mailed to your address.*
Am I guaranteed to get the amount you offered?
Yes — as long as the Mac matches what you told us. We aren't nit-picky about condition and we rarely revise an offer. If we ever do, you'll see exactly what we found, photos included, and it's your call whether to take the new number or have your Mac shipped back to you, free.
What if something's wrong with it that I didn't mention?
Just note it in the comments box before you ship and we'll factor it in up front. It cuts both ways: if a Mac turns out to be in better shape than described, we pay you more than the offer — that happens more often than people expect.
My Mac is broken. Is that OK?
Gladly. Cracked screens, liquid damage, machines that won't power on — we repair and resell them, so a broken Mac is worth real money to us. Describe the fault as best you can; you don't need to diagnose it.
What happens to my data?
Every drive is erased to NIST 800-88 standards as soon as your Mac is received — if a drive is defective and can't be wiped, it's physically destroyed. You're welcome to erase it yourself first. Signing out of iCloud and turning off Find My before you ship gets you the best offer, but we buy activation-locked and iCloud-locked Macs too — just tell us up front.
Do you sell my information?
No. Your information is never sold or shared, and we don't send newsletters or marketing spam. We use your email only to send your offer, shipping label, and payment updates.
How can I trust Encore?
Encore is Encore, a registered business in AZ. Every offer is locked in the moment you accept, we pay for shipping both ways, and you can reach a real person any time — see our contact page. Payment goes out only after your Mac is in hand and inspected.
How do I check my offer status?
Head to Check Offer Status and enter the confirmation number from your email and the last name on the order. You'll see where your Mac is in the process, from label to payment.
Do you buy Macs from outside the US?
Not yet — right now we only buy Macs located in the United States.
